“Heartbreaker, dream maker, a love taker!”

(I know, I know, I know! I just couldn’t resist a Pat Benatar reference! Horribly cliche, no?)

But isn’t that what really attracts us to our heroes—both alpha and beta—is that they are all those things at once? They fulfill our fantasies, give us someone to love, while at the same time driving us to drink! (My guy JT does it all—in spades!)

Do our hero guys do it on purpose? Sometimes, yes! But sometimes they are just as confused and mixed up about life and love as all the regular guys—maybe even more so when it comes to loving another guy!

My favorite heartbreaker is Jeff from my story Summer Stock. Hot, sexy and confused as hell, he makes life a nightmare for Robert every time they have to work together.

    I like a hero who picks his battles and who admits his mistakes – to himself if nobody else. But where love’s concerned I rather like him to be a bit off balance so he, or rather THEY have to work at it.

  3. I love the guy that is hot and sexy without knowing it. A true heart breaker is the one that does not know his true value and appeal! The looks, body and brains without the ego; who couldn’t fall for one of those!!

    The only heartbreakers I have encountered are literary! And my all time fav is Mr Darcy! Although, I am currently crushing on Zadist from the Black Dagger Brotherhood!

  20. My favorite Heartbreaker is the one that your heart can’t live without. One of my best is Lucas from D B Reynolds book “LUCAS” (Vampire in America series). Strong mind, well put together and tender when he wants to be. And loves horses.

  23. I don’t know that I’ve met a heart breaker, but I’ve read about quite a few. My current favorites are both Lauren Dane characters. One is Shane from Fated and the other Todd from Laid Bare. I think the redeeming thing about them is that when they realize how wrong they are they are quite good at communicating their understanding and groveling.
